I think there maybe a solution to help the Parr Hall, but it involves us all. > > 1.Warrington Borough Council should make available the taxpayers money to > provide a Community Arts Centre ( from the headline in this weeks Warrington Guardian, no one can argue that this isn't being done) > > 2.Organisations made up from local musicians, actors and artists should make full use of the facilities provided and stage cultural events. Have we had the full story regarding the exodus of the amateur dramatics group? How can > a facility that successfully hosted a national touring show such as the "Mighty Boosh" not "be up to scratch"? > > 3.The Warrington Guardian should actively promote the events taking place there, running frequent editorials on performers and performances. To be honest I have never known a local newspaper to produce a cultural supplement that focuses so heavily on what is happening in neighbouring cities as well > as what it was like to be a young journalist in Manchester in 1981. > > 4.We, the towns' population, should fully support the arts in Warrington and attend the events that we have read about in the local press. > > 5.Next years headline should read "Parr Hall Flourishes!"

Thats all very nice and community based stuff which might work long term but the problem needs fixing now and the venue needs money now.
Just give SJM Promotions a call and make them an offer to get good signed bands back in Warrington.
I've been told the place is falling apart BTW and thats not just pub gossip. It can be saved, it can move forward, it just need someone with vision to do it.

That's what this Forum needs, some "proper" discussion.
Anyway.. sorry to jump in,
The collective has been set up to develop and raise the profile of the Warrington music scene. Fundraisers are now being held. The money from these will help to stage more high profile events which, hopefully, will raise more and more money. This will be channelled back into the organisation and with a bit of luck we'll have a monster on our hands.
I think that the figures mentioned in the Warrington Guardian was for the arts department as a whole and not just for the venue. They have to pay wages out of that and all sorts of other things......like .....pens...and.... post it notes.
From my recent dealings and discussions with the arts development team, who are a very helpful partner in all of this, i think the future looks great for the Pyramid and Parr Hall and we're really pleased to have such access to it. I'm sure they'll be making announcements quite soon
A big thanks to all the bands, reviewers, designers and photographers who are giving their time for free to help get the ball rolling.
I've heard it said recently that we won't last more than two years. And maybe that's why some people aren't that keen to get involved.
Well, If it does fall flat on the ground it wasn't through your lack of effort. You've seen the need for action and you are doing something about it.
Can i encourage any Warrington musicians who haven't made contact and want to be involved to get in touch
First gig on Thursday 3rd August at The WA1. Exile Parade , The Vandahls and The Loungs. Thanks again
