The good people at Economic Development have offered The Warrington Music Collective just the right amount of money to get our promotional magazine off the ground. We hope to have the first issue in circulation by the beginning of November. It will be full colour, between 8-16 pages and be distributed in pubs, clubs, venues, rehearsal rooms, shops, schools, colleges and anywhere else we can think of.
Any serious suggestions about what the magazine should be called would be gratefully received

Hiya I'd like someone to tell me more about the magazine please. That way I can pass the info onto other people who will love to be involved. You see I've asked in all the "good" bars if they have been told about it and asked about 30 regular Warrington Gig goers and clubbers if they have been asked about it and I get blank faces everywhere I go. If your just promoting it from here thats a waste obviously as this is aimed at bands so its going to miss the people that really matter, you know, the people who go to watch them or buy music or have a genral interest in cultural activities. You can catch me at www.myspace.com/warringtonmusicnetwork If it's a Warrington based Mag about Warrington and the people that live, work and go out here then wouldnt it be best to get contributions from as many as possible? Might make it less one sided, what do you think?

Hi Tony,
It's still early days for this project so i'm not surprised that people in your poll aren't that aware of it as yet. The first issue will be out in November and will heavily feature the Warrington Music Collective events and members. We're busy gathering information at the minute and assembling a team of contributors together. It'll be a promotional vehicle for the musicians and artists in and around the town and we hope to watch it develop year by year, with the help of members of the collective and our partners in the council and educational institutions. Anybody wanting to get involved can contact info@warringtonmusic.com

I don’t really understand what the problem is with getting people involved now? I understand what it takes to set up Fanzine style Magazine. Do you just intend to use it as the Warrington Music Collective then? If this is the case then it will also be the case that it will be used as a promotion tool for two selected venues based on one side of Warrington town centre and the odd college venue. It’s obvious to many that this is the case already and on behalf of everyone involved with Warrington Music Network and some of the venues we have ties with the matter does need clarifying. If the council or local government or any body of that type is putting money into the publication then question as to its integrity have to be answered sooner than later. We at Warrington Music Network have invited the Collective to be involved with the page many times and to be shut out of its plans is something that we not only expected but also can live with. This is another matter though and I feel it’s important it gets cleared up regards any magazine that’s got other initiatives and want to leave some kind of legacy from each issue. Obviously through myself I have connection with Club Casi but as a part of Warrington Music Network I work as a separate entity. We run our page in an un-bias way and involve everyone who wants to be involved. Inviting people to get involved and actively seek out people to contribute for the good of the scene as a whole. Warrington Music Network has a vast amount to contribute to the magazine or fanzine, whatever it may turn out to be. I will email you at the address and take things from there. Thanks for your reply to my last post. I hope you see the issues as valid. Regards Tony @ Warrington Music Network www.myspace.com/warringtonmusicnetwork

Wooh there nelly!
You're questioning the integrity of the project because why?...Because you're not involved?
And you think that justifies a public enquiry into how Warrington Borough Council spends the taxpayers money?
I think maybe a slight adjustment in your self perception might be required buddy.
We've chosen our partners. They are being very supportive. We'll continue to work with them and will forge more partnerships in the future. With their help, hopefully, this organisation will grow and the people it's here to serve will benefit more and more.
It isn't personal Tony, it's just that at the moment we've got it covered. Believe me there's no conflict between us, nor is there any venue bias. We will be looking to expand on this in the coming months. The best way to get involved at the moment, i guess, would involve buying a guitar and writing some songs. Then we'll be all over you like Oprah on a baked ham!
